CASE
At the Kinoshita Intellectual Property Office, a patent corporation located in Suginami-ku, Tokyo, they mainly work on intellectual property rights (patents, utility models, designs, and trademarks), dispute agency services, and obtain intellectual property rights in foreign countries; business and consulting services related to intellectual property. In addition to legal compliance and ethical behaviour, not only acquiring intellectual property rights, but also from the pre-licensing stage to the stage of utilizing the rights, it has a wide range of perspectives, and value customers' ideas as intellectual property. In other words, it provides comprehensive services related to intellectual property in order to “create value for intellectual property”. This time, we talked to Mr. Morita, Office of Operations, and Mr. Miyagi, Drawing Group G about the background of the introduction of "3DTascalX".
We learned about the product from our customer.
The number of opportunities for customers to provide CAD data for the preparation of application documents such as patents, utility models, designs, etc. has increased, but since there was no software that could confirm 3D data, so customers can only provide 2D data. For this reason, they were dropped and used to create patent drawings and specifications using Adobe Illustrator, but it was very difficult to grasp the positional relationship and shape of the parts.
We receive requests from customers in various industries, but when doing business related to the intellectual property rights used by customers, we will not do business with companies that are in a competitive relationship with existing customers. Therefore, customers in the same industry are few, and customers in multiple industries are increasing. For this reason, 3DCAD also varies widely by industry, so we were looking for software that could handle a wide range of 3D data formats, was easy to operate, and could be used by many employees. 3DTascalX, which had both, was the best choice.
3D data can be confirmed at our office without the need for the customer to create or convert 2D data, and it is possible to quickly understand the position relationship and shape of parts, as well as create the necessary patent drawings for application documents. As a result, the range of expression has been expanded compared to before the introduction, and the time has been significantly reduced. In addition, since it can be developed into a 2D drawing from an isometric viewpoint, a perspective view can be created in a short time.
As a feature request, it would be very helpful if a 3D model with an angle such as isometrics could be developed into a 2D drawing with clipping displayed and a perspective sectional view (perspective view) could be created.
